Every now and then we are reminded how fragile life is. For me that was yesterday. I was on my way to the interfaith peace day event at Lydgate park with 2 kids, 2 guests and 100 cookies, when suddenly we had a change of plans, when we unexpectedly got into a car crash !
All in all an honest reminder for me that life is a gift, things can change for any of us in a split second, so don't take anything in life for granted. No matter how good or bad you think your life is, wake up each day and be thankful for life. Don't take the presence of our friends, family and loved ones in our lives for granted, life is short eventually everyone and everything will be taken away from us ....Forgive often and love generously.
So back to the accident .. what happened? Two old friends had just spent the loveliest day together, having lunch in Hanalei and were heading into Kapaa, but forgot something at home so went to make a U Turn on the highway.... unfortunately they didn't see us coming and pulled out directly in front of our car to make their U Turn, I didn't have time to break so I put my foot on the gas so to avoid a head on collision she hit the back wheel of our car instead of a full frontal collusion ....the police said that split second decision to speed up instead of break saved many lives.... If I had reacted differently we would have ploughed into their car and possible killed her as well as send our car to spin out of control and into oncoming traffic = So luckily God's hands were on the wheel And in that split second I made the right call! We were all very blessed, yes the cars both got badly damaged but no one got hurt, and at the end of the day that's all that matters ...a split second difference and people could have lost their lives !
So if anyone saw us on the side of the highway in Anahola between 1-4pm yes that was us we were there for 3 hours filing a police report...and waiting to have both cars towed.
Respect the truth HE>i God is great.
We are small, we have no more control over our life than a leaf 🍃 blowing in the wind.
As I went to bed last night a saying came to my mind...if God wants you to live nothing can harm you, and if God wants you to die -and its your time to leave this body -then nothing can save you. So it's my understanding It's our job to always do our best in life to do what we can to be pono, but at the end of the day we truly are insignificant and small our life isn't in our control we are pretty much along for the ride, therefore the best thing we can do is take our hearts and restless minds and place ourselves in God's hands. Give ourselves to God. Prayer is putting ourselves in God's hands. Offer ourselves up to God everyday, trust in His plan for us, it's only then we can experience true inner peace and rest.
Amen
